Divers Villa
At the end of October 2018, Extra Divers Christmas Island officially opened the Divers Villa, a newly refurbished English colonial house on the stunning rocky coastline of Christmas Island. The Divers Villa is located in the heart of the settlement on Christmas Island, in a quiet environment. Several restaurants, shops and a supermarket are within walking distance. The Extra Divers centre can be reached by only 8-10 minutes’ walk along the coastal path.
The villa is the perfect accommodation for a romantic getaway by the sea or as a holiday home for a group. Of course, individual, private rooms are as well rented, sharing a common kitchen and dining area.
Location
The Villa's wooden building was constructed in the mid-1930s. The villa is known on the island as Married Quarters 8 (MQ8) and is one of the last three pre-war bungalows built by the Christmas Island Phosphate Company. The house was newly renovated in the summer of 2018 and decorated in a modern style. Guests enjoy a wonderful sea view all year round.
A large front and back yard stretches around the villa, with garden, outdoor facilities, and sunbathing. Tropical gardens line the house and offer treats such as papaya, coconuts, lemongrass, mint, lime and bananas, depending on the season.
In addition to the common areas in the villa, there are also a variety of outdoor garden areas ideal for dining, sunbathing or bird watching.
Next to it is the Seaspray Villa, which can be rented as well.
Seaspray Villa
Reminiscent of the British colonial years of South East Asia, Seaspray Villa is the former servant’s quarters to the larger Divers Villa located next door, offering a spacious and cool apartment-style bedroom, equipped with kitchen, bathroom and wardrobe space.
High concrete walls and gable roofing keep the villa cool in its tropical environment. Plenty of natural light floods in during the daytime through the wooden glass-paned windows. Its interior is freshly decorated in a modern colonial style and features a quiet outside deck looking right out to sea.
Seaspray Villa is located in the heart of Settlement, part of the historical sea front homes dating back to pre-WWII days when the Christmas Island Phosphate Company commanded the island.
It offers supreme privacy and seascapes as well as convenience as it is walking distance to shops, restaurants, a supermarket and Extra Divers Christmas Island dive centre. Seaspray Villa is the perfect place for an intimate holiday along idyllic coastline.
Seaspray Villa features a full kitchen and a large studio style bedroom/living area with a King size bed and sofa. The bed can be split into two singles and the sofa converts into a double size sofa bed to fit up to 3 people comfortably.
